The door moves on a guide and is wound on a shaft, embodied in a protective box over the opening of the garage. It rolls up into a casing. Such doors rise vertically and they do not stick out at an angle. SO if your home had a small driveway, a roller garage door would be best suited for your needs.

the force ot winds, etc.

Roller garage doors are very quiet during operation and this makes them the ideal choice if silence is your priority. Some roller garage doors even stop and reverse their downward motion if they sense an obstruction in the way. This is done via a special sensor positioned at the top of the garage door.

Before buying a garage door, make sure your garage has enough headroom after installation. If you do not take care of this, you might end up having low headroom, which will not allow bigger vehicles to enter your garage.

As compared to other types of garage doors such as sectional doors, roller doors are better because they are very light weight and have a much less complicated panel. Hence, the chances of an unfortunate accident occuring is greatly minimized.

Roller garage doors often come with a remote control. You can use this to open the door whenever you’re nearby, and then close it simply by the push of a button. The remote control can be conveniently placed in your car too.

In the event of a power outage, you may not be able to operate your garage door. To counter these circumstances, you should always keep additional power back ups with you such as a manual device (UPS, generator, etc) or batteries. This way, you will be able to operate your garage door successfully without having to wait for the power to come back.

All in all, a rolling garage door is definitely something to consider adding to your home for added convenience, safety and comfort.

By looking at the photo, it looks that the roller door is in addition to main roller door which looks like regular MS roller door. Is it so? What about the strength of roller door. Can the remote sensor be operated by the flashing of car lights? Need more information.

    • ContractorGuy says:

That photo is provided by Wikipedia, not sure if it’s MS brand or not. As far as remote sensors being activated by flashing car lights, yes some roller doors are capable of this.

I agree a roller garage door is practical, convenient and saves space. It can also be opened manually in case there is a power cut. I just have to figure how to open it without messing the remote control program.

How much is the estimated budget for this? I really think it’s worth it to save all the trouble of walking to the garage door, plus it feels so secure!

Hi Martin, with the motor and garage door, the total can run on average a couple of thousand or more. Prices will vary from company to company and depending on which area/country you live in – so definitely do your research.

We’ve been meaning to install this in our own home! The hubby’s been pretty hesitant about the headroom of our garage but I think we can make it work.

  9. Cathy Teal says:

I have been shopping for a garage door for my home for quite sometime. For years, our garage has remained open but now I have things stored there and they need protection from the elements of weather. I have to make a sharp turn to pull into my garage and space is limited. This particular door seems perfect in the way it rolls up and down without the door sticking out away from the garage. The fact that it’s quiet is of vast importance as my fiance’ often works the midnight shift and sleeps in the bedroom closest to our garage. I would feel comfortable leaving for work without the worry I awakened him. As an animal rescuer, sensors in the door that can detect an obstruction means I no longer have to be concerned that one of our animals will accidentally get caught and injured when the door is coming down. What an amazing product!
