Home Painter Projects That’s Do It Yourself

While it does take a bit of effort and hard work, painting your home is something most people can do. Depending on the length of time you have lived in your house, and how long it has been since it was painted, you will know how difficult the job will be. If you perform the adequate prep work and you make the time, you will be able to save some money doing it yourself. It is best to employ someone to do the job for you, if you have to take off from your job to do it.

After years, the paint on your wall is going to either start to fade or peel. In fact, your single option will be to scrape the paint off your wall. If your home is really old, you could have several coats of paint, which will compound the problem. It can be much more tedious if the layer of paint below was oil-based. After you’re done scraping the paint from the walls, you’ll either need to putty holes in the wall if it’s wood or spackle if it is drywall then sand it down. As soon as this is completed, wipe off the dust, and let it get completely dry. You might want to allow it to sit for 24 hours before you start painting.

Older houses may have problems with moisture build-up. You could find paint splits if your home has got excessive condensation or leaks. This really is prevalent within the bathrooms where there is excessive moisture along with mold and mildew. Even though common in bathrooms, this problem can also occur in other parts of the home. At times your house will have a leak, or bushes that are too close. If your paint is cracking as a result of moisture build-up, you will need a different solution. As you will probably have mildew, and if it is on the inside, you will need a solution consisting of one part bleach and three parts water. If it is outside of the home, just use the solution that comes with a pressure washer.

An additional problem that requires a painter, is when the color is fading, which normally happens on the exterior. This occurs in most cases outside the home where there is direct sunlight almost for the whole day. To avert this problem, avoid bright colors, or bold ones, like red. If you’d like some kind of deeper color, find one with a ruddy tone or golden.

You should always try to keep your home seeming fresh and new. You need to keep it painted every few years, and quickly fix any leaks to get rid of the moisture.
